I am the Co-owner of Amherst Electrical Services Inc with my Father Carlton Staples. I have commercial, residential, and industrial experience; including working at the Panther Stadium as an electrical apprentice for 2 years. We primarily work in South Charlotte, and specialize in residential remodeling. We have our unlimited license in North and South Carolina. I have been with Amherst Electrical for 6 years. Meet Jim Mock

A native of Charlotte, Jim Mock is currently the General Manager for Marsh Kitchens, the Charlotte-area storefront design center of the Marsh Furniture Company based in High Point, NC. Jim has 22 years of experience in design, remodeling, sales and management (including managing large-production builder accounts) within the cabinetry industry. In addition to his work on the For Your Home televised and syndicated show, his involvement has included retirement communities, condominiums, Home-Arama houses, the Hospitality House for the Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) and projects for the University of North Carolina Charlotte and the University of South Carolina.

About the Marsh Furniture Company

Founded in 1906 by Julius Everett Marsh, Sr. and managed by his descendants for nearly a century, the Marsh Furniture Company has been crafting fine cabinetry since their innovative beginnings in kitchen furnishings. Their early “Kitchen Safes” were ready-to-assemble, ornate free-standing cupboards sold through retail stores and evolved to define the modern kitchen cabinet. Pre-fabricated cabinets with separate wall and base units were developed after the Great Depression and were sold directly to contractors who built them into new homes. Marsh became a major name in new construction, and a sawmill in Pamplico, South Carolina was acquired in 1944. This mill grew into the Marsh Lumber Company which continues to be a major source for wood used in Marsh cabinets today. In recent years, Marsh moved into the retail cabinet business, now with five local stores and dramatically increasing retail sales.

Karen is a wife, mother and business owner.She has a BS Degree from the University of Tennessee in Business/ Design. Karen is a Licensed General Contractor in North and South Carolina with 26 years of Design and Construction experience in Residential Remodels. Karen, along with her husband and business partner, started I on Design Rennovations 6 years ago in an effort to bring a fresh perspective to the Rennovation/Remodel market. Past projects include designing Spec Homes, Commercial offices designs,countless Interior and Exterior remodels as well as Historic Rennovations.

I on Design has an A rating on Angie’s List and is a longtime member of Business Networking International.

Mick resides in Belmont, North Carolina with his wife Veronica and two children, Jenna and Domenic.

I was born in Florida but have spent most of my life in North Carolina. I started in construction when I was about 16 cleaning up houses that were under construction. When I was 18 I started as a carpenter framing houses. From there I worked my way up to a superintendent with a local custom home builder overseeing the construction of high end homes in the Charlotte area.

I eventually went to work for a high end remodeling company that specialized in historic homes. I not only oversaw the completion of the jobs, I also did alot of the framing and trim for these homes. I learned to make cabinets and built ins as well. In 2005 I opened Albritton Custom Carpentry to take the work I love to the next level. Even after more than 30 years in this business I still have fun every day and really enjoy my job!

Buying a foreclosed home can be worthwhile, but dealing with what was neglected in the process can be daunting. FYH helps a family renovate their dated deck, porch and unkempt landscape. Vicki and her FYH crew replace a backyard deck, renovate a screened in porch and install new brick walkways in this episode of our two part series.

This project was so big it took two shows to cover all the work that Vicki and her crew did to the home. Once the hardscape was completed, it was time to turn the project over to the FYH landscape crew. Working with the existing plantings and layout of the front yard, they transplanted trees, roses, flowers and other planting to improve the appearance of the home’s front yard.

Then turning their attention to the backyard, the crew leveled the sunken yard, and installed new sod, plantings and seasonal flowers. As a final touch, the backdoor was replaced, enhancing the overall look of the back of the home. You’ll find it’s amazing what can be accomplished by working with existing materials and talented landscapers in this conclusion of our Outdoor Living series!
