Nothing smells fresher than lemons, limes, herbs and spices. You can capture these fresh fragrances for your home by combining just a few simple ingredients.

I’ve been playing with different combinations for years. Here’s a list of my favorites. Feel free to be creative and discover your own scents by blending and mixing fruits, herbs and spices.

Fragrant Combinations

Orange, Cinnamon & Spice
1 orange
2 cinnamon sticks
½ T whole cloves
½ T whole allspice
1 anise star (optional)

Lemon, Rosemary & Vanilla
3 sprigs fresh rosemary
2 lemons
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Lime, Thyme, Mint & Vanilla
3 limes
3-4 sprigs fresh thyme
½ teaspoon mint extract
1 teaspoon vanilla

Orange, Ginger & Almond
1 orange
1 4” finger of ginger, sliced
½ teaspoon almond extract

It so easy to put together all these various scents. Using pint jars, fill with designated ingredients. Then top with water. Cap each jar and store in refrigerator.

When ready to freshen the air, simply empty a jar of your favorite fragrance into a pot and heat to a simmer. Remember to top off with more water as liquid evaporates.
